The calculation of bending moment due to temperature change in concrete
wall is based on Reynolds
& Steedman Concrete Hand Book . Please
note that the bending moment due to change
in temperature produces compression on the face subjected to the higher
temperature. This program is applicable
to walls where there is temp. gradient, and not when
there is a uniform raise in temperature. The un-cracked depth of concrete shall be given , whenever the design is not based on IS 3370 (Code of Practice for liquid retaining structures). This un-cracked concrete depth is distance between extreme fiber in compression to neutral axis. In case the design is based on un-crack section , the un-crack depth of section will be equal to full depth. Contribution of reinforcement in calculation of moment of inertia of un-cracked section is neglected. After getting the BM. due to temperature change a user has to add this moment algebraically to other externally applied BM. |
