Foundation
could be designed as of uniform thickness or of tapered thickness.

Tapered foundation is designed only under axial
compression, no applied moment is allowed.

Development of tension is not allowed in foundation,
that means eccentricity greater than Length or width / 6 of foundation is not allowed.

Side face reinforcement shall be provided for depth greater than 1000
mm. The total area of steel shall not be
less than 3.6 cm2/m per face.
